A huge congratulations to our 7 students who achieved their 1st and 2nd Degree Black Belts on Sunday 1st December 2019 – what an achievement! The grading involved 9 hours of training, during which they completed a 6 miles run, MMA training, sparring, 2 vs 1 sparring, freeforms, syllabus work and even more fitness work! They also completed 4 hours of teaching in our Ninja & Beginner classes. A special well done to James Roddy who is one of the first students at Area 51 Martial Arts & Tricking Academy to reach their 2nd Degree Black Belt! Also a big thank you to Newth who gave his morning to teach the students a class on MMA, and who also achieved his 2nd Degree Black! All belts to be awarded on our Christmas Show on 7th December!
We are looking for more adults (men and women) to join our Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts classes at the club! These are every Monday and Wednesday:
A really friendly and welcoming group, beginners very welcome. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, learn self-defence, build confidence, develop your fitness and have lots of fun! Your first 2 weeks are FREE, what do you have to lose!?
So it’s been a while since we’ve remembered to take any pictures of the adult training sessions. Unfortunately we forgot yet again to take some at kick-boxing, but at least we got a few of the MMA session. The sparring has come on a lot recently, a lot due to Oli’s hard work during the kick-boxing, so last night during MMA we had an hour’s open sparring. This post is just photos from last night. Great work everyone, really enjoyable class.
Tricking is a combination of martial arts with gymnastic, free running and break dancing where the student can learn to jump, spin, flip and kick – and then to combo the moves to make something really cool!
We have beginner classes which are open to anyone aged 7 years and above:
The benefits include building confidence and self-esteem, improving physical fitness and strength, meeting new friends, being creative, developing new skills and having lots of fun! There are opportunities to progress to a competitive level if you want to, or just come and enjoy the training 🙂
